Chris Rock Finalizes Divorce in New Jersey Courtroom
Hollywood actor and comedian Chris Rock has officially finalized his divorce from his longtime wife Malaak Rock.
Rock and his wife were married for roughly 20 years and legally separated two years ago. The couple had two children together, so child custody and child support were always going to be issues that needed to be resolved in the divorce.
Rock recently appeared with his ex-wife in a New Jersey family court and signed off on the divorce settlement, which was subsequently approved by the NJ divorce court judge. However, these issues were magnified by a conflict over a third child in the marriage. According to Rock’s ex-wife, the eight-year-old kid, Ntombi, was part of the family. As such, she argued in court, Rock should have to pay additional child support.
Rock countered the claims for more child support by stating that Ntombi was not his daughter. Rock and his ex-spouse reportedly adopted Ntombi from South Africa when she was just six months old. From that point forward, the child lived with the Rocks. However, since Rock never officially adopted Ntombi, he did not believe that he should be required to provide child support for the kid.
Since Rock and his ex-wife legally separated in 2014, the famed comedian has reportedly maintained close ties with his other two children; however, he has not seen the third child, who is now eight years old.
At long last, it appears that the drama surrounding Chris Rock’s divorce is finally at an end. The divorce settlement hammered out by the ex-spouses’ respective lawyers reportedly includes some form of financial support for Rock’s ex-wife. Since the terms of the divorce agreement have not been disclosed, what remains unclear is whether Rock will be paying child support for Ntombi.
