'Criminal Minds' Star Thomas Gibson Secretly Filed for Divorce
Thomas Gibson was recently in the news when the longtime star of the popular network TV show “Criminal Minds” was fired for allegedly getting into a physical altercation on set and kicking a producer. Now it appears that Gibson may have been going through a difficult time personally as media reports indicate that he secretly filed for divorce from his wife two years ago and is still going through a contentious divorce process.
Thomas Gibson and Christine Gibson were married for more than two decades, but the couple ultimately decided to get a divorce. The official divorce paperwork was filed on June 18, 2014 and indicated that the husband and wife were estranged and no longer living together. “Irreconcilable differences” was cited as the primary reason for the divorce.
The divorce process has taken a long time as the former spouses have vigorously contested various issues in the divorce. Things have been so combative that Christine Gibson has reportedly challenged just about every detail listed in the divorce documents. For instance, she even said that the marriage date listed in the divorce filing was inaccurate.
Although contentious divorces often take a while to resolve, this particular divorce seems to involve many issues that make it unlikely to be resolved anytime soon – if it even gets resolved at all. In fact, the last petition in the case was filed in December 2015. According to court records, the divorce case will actually be dismissed if neither of the spouses, or their attorneys, files another divorce petition prior to October 25, 2016.
It is unclear at this time if a reason for the holdup in the divorce process is the nature of the divorce, which involves parties with high net worths.
