Halle Berry Divorce Case Moving Slowly, Could Be Dismissed for Lack of Action
Hollywood superstar Halle Berry and her husband Olivier Martinez need to act soon or risk having their divorce case tossed out of court.
In October 2015, Berry and Martinez filed for divorce and submitted divorce paperwork in Los Angeles, California. However, Berry and Martinez not followed through on their divorce since that time, prompting the divorce court judge to warn the estranged couple that they need to act soon.
The Los Angeles County divorce court recently issued a Notice of Case Review Regarding Default because Berry and Martinez have not followed up with the necessary paperwork in a timely fashion. The Notice of Case Review means that Berry and Martinez must now submit the required divorce paperwork or file a dismissal of the divorce case. If Berry and Martinez fail to take action, the divorce court will be forced to dismiss the case.
There has been some speculation that Berry and Martinez may have reconciled and have decided not to actually go through with the divorce. However, media outlets are reporting that the divorce is “definitely still happening.” The problem is reportedly that the paperwork is just taking a lot of time because Berry and Martinez are both working actors in Hollywood and have busy schedules that include raising their children. (Berry and Martinez have a two-year-old son, while Berry also has an eight-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.)
The reality is that the divorce process is extremely complicated and often involves a number of nuances legal issues. Moreover, the paperwork that needs to be filed in a divorce case can be cumbersome and time consuming. That’s why anyone who is involved in the divorce process in California, New Jersey, New York, or anywhere else really needs to have a qualified family law attorney representing them.
