Wife of Hollywood Film Star Johnny Depp Files for Divorce
It appears that Johnny Depp’s marriage is about to end in divorce. Amber Heard, the actress wife of the famous movie star, recently filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The couple has been married for 15 months, having held a private marriage ceremony in February 2015. Depp, an Oscar-nominated actor who has appeared in many highly successful films over the course of his lengthy career, met Heard while the two actors were co-starring in The Rum Diary, a 2011 film chronicling the life of journalist Hunter S. Thompson.
In her marriage filing, Heard cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for seeking the divorce. In the official court documents, Heard is listed as “Amber Depp,” her real name. Heard, who is also a Hollywood star, uses a different screen name when appearing in movies.
The divorce documents filed by Heard make it clear that she will be seeking spousal support from Depp. This has reportedly prompted Depp’s attorney to file a request that the divorce court judge reject Heard’s claim for alimony and allow the couple to focus on how to best divide shared assets and property.
Although many celebrity marriages involve a prenuptial agreement, it is believed that Depp and Heard did not have a prenup. As a result, this high net worth divorce has the potential to get very messy, depending on the circumstances.
Depp and Heard do not have any children together, so there will not be any child support or child custody issues in this divorce proceeding. Depp was previously married to someone else and also has one child with his former girlfriend Vanessa Paradis, a French actress.
