Former MLB Star Cal Ripken Divorces Wife of 30 Years
Media outlets recently reported that retired baseball player Cal Ripken and his wife of almost 30 years have finalized their divorce. The divorce was kept under the radar by the Ripkens despite the fact that the couple has been legally separated for a while now.
Cal Ripken, who is 55 years old, was able to work out an amicable divorce settlement with his wife, Kelly, who is 57 years old. The terms of the divorce have not been publicly disclosed because the former spouses worked out a private settlement. As a result, the exact division of property in the divorce, which may include bank accounts, real estate, and ownership stakes in sports complexes and a minor league baseball team, will be kept under wraps.
When Ripken played baseball, Kelly was often in attendance at the games. Moreover, even after Cal retired from MLB, Kelly was a constant presence at his many charity events and public appearances. Meanwhile, Cal was a big supporter of Kelly Ripken’s charitable endeavors, which included co-chairing the Johns Hopkins annual women’s health conference and endorsing the Kelly G. Ripken program for thyroid patients at Johns Hopkins.
Cal and Kelly Ripken got married in 1987. The couple has two children, but since both children are above the age of 18, there were no child support or child custody issues involved in this divorce case. In a statement announcing the divorce, Kelly Ripken’s attorney noted that his client has done an admirable job of raising the couple’s children.
